Half Acre Gym

University of Wyoming | Laramie, Wyoming

Martin/Martin designed the structure for the gym’s 40,500 SF remodel as well as the 101,000 SF expansion. The new design improves circulation and integrates it within the building’s existing systems and with the University’s Long Range Campus Plan. Programming includes campus recreation, a basketball court, racketball courts, weight areas, and a large climbing wall. The building also houses kinesiology and health space, theatre and dance class rooms, ROTC, and the UW Lab School. An important design factor for the team was to provide a state of the art recreational facility to help attract new students to the area while still maintaining the overall theme of the campus architecture.
