Laramie County Library

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Complete structural design for a 3-story, 103,593 SF, steel framed building with the following significant structural components: large horizontal expanses of glass; multiple elliptical façade elements with multiple material finishes; a high density shelving system on an elevated floor; a glass elevator; a large meeting room at ground level that was offset from the exterior building face without interior columns; increased floor loads; an interior gallery spanning across the full width of the library; multiple bridges at the elevated floors to cross the gallery; numerous elevated patios; and soils with a low bearing capacity that resulted in a deep foundation. The library was the 2008 Library of the Year.
